1. GET ORGANIZED. There are a lot of steps in prepping for the event of a lifetime – your wedding day. But the main thing to remember is that this is a celebration and you want to actually enjoy your wedding. The best way to do this is with a little organization and creativity ahead of time. A wedding organizer is a great way to do this. Get yourself a binder with pockets and folders and then sort and file all you information and reference materials. That way you can refer back to the info as you need it.

2. POP THE QUESTION. Now if you are just starting out on this process, there are a number of clever things to do every step of the way. Including popping the question while popping a bottle of champagne. If you soak a bottle in water for a few hours, the label will just peel right off. Then you can apply your own customized label to set the mood of the proposal. This is also a great party trick, serving your guests “customized champagne”. You can even name it something clever like “Honeymoon Fizz” or “Wedding Wine”. This also makes a good gift to the happy couple.

4. DRESS UP THE TABLE. You can dress up your whole table with some easy ideas. Lace paper can be cut into beautiful place mats, or if bought on the roll it can be a clever table cloth. There is also a vast array of paper plates and napkins out there, that while a little informal, add a nice touch to a bridal shower. I like to mix and match patterns within a color pallet to add a little extra personality. Bundling up your utensils in a bow also adds a nice touch.

5. PAPER FLOWERS. Real flowers fade, but paper flowers last and last. A beautiful white paper flower bouquet makes a dramatic center piece.

6. WEDDING FAVORS. Everyone loves a gift. There are so many clever little gift boxes to choose from to give a special little gift to your guests. The gift can double as a place card at the table – making a special statement. A small gift bag does the same trick and is readily available, acting as party favor, place card and goody bag all in one.

From cocktail napkins to coasters to decks of cards, you can have your names, monogram, or wedding date put on a variety of things. You can also customize chocolate with a logo or even your picture.

10. FRAMED. A frame is of course a great gift to give the wedding couple, as everyone will need a way to display there portraits and pictures. But a frame is also a great gift for the couple to send out to guests. A small silver frame could contain the save the date card, reminding your guests of your big day, and providing them with a frame to reuse later.

11. PRESENT IN PRESENTATION. A hand-made box, or other reusable container makes a great gift box, and is something handy to have and use again later. This beautiful gold box could hold a wedding treasure or could be used in the closet or office to organize papers and small items. The same decorative box could also be turned into a money box, to help the couple gather those much needed cash donations.

12. MATCHY MATCHY. Gift wrap for whatever you decide to give should match the occasion. If you are the one giving the gift to the couple, use the invitation as a reference as to what palette to choose from. Or if you are feeling really creative, you can do a spectacular gift wrap like this one where I have wrapped the gift to actually look like the bride and the groom.
